The Third District of Lexington has the same challenges as many other communities trying to balance the health of older neighborhoods surrounding a University and Downtown. If other communities can get it right so can we.
There is a lack of consistent enforcement of the ordinances on the books. Allowing home additions that violate zoning, trash in yards, dumping gravel in yards, and overcrowding of single–family homes are destroying our beautiful neighborhoods. It is unsafe and it is costly to the property owners that are investing in their homes.
Healthy neighborhoods say a lot about a community and make sustainability possible. Let’s do it right.
