Let's DO IT RIGHT

Dear Friends,

I have been privileged to serve as your 3rd District Council Member for two terms. Since I am retired, I have been able to dedicate myself as a full-time council member. While my lifetime experience has been a great benefit, I have also learned a lot by being on Council.

We have made a lot of progress on many of the problems that I pledged to address when I took office, but there is still much to do. A few of our successes include: the moratorium on building vinyl boxes in neighborhoods, decreased density problems, created escalating fines for code enforcement, and fines for building without a permit. I couldn’t have done this without your help.

Our city is facing serious financial problems and the economy is still shaky. I won’t make false promises, but I will pledge to continue to work hard, use my experience, think outside the box, and employ good old common sense to continue to get things done.

The 3rd District includes the core of downtown, all of the University of Kentucky, several local shopping areas and the older neighborhoods around UK and downtown. Each of these areas has unique attributes and challenges and all are essential to the vitality of Lexington.

I firmly believe our district has the most passionate constituents in the entire Commonwealth. I thrive on bringing people with differing points of view together, to work on our shared goal of making the District a better place to live, study and work.

I am grateful to have been able to serve you throughout my 2 terms. I am asking for your support in the general election on November 6th.
